Create two videos that explore editing as the aesthetic subject. The second video will be a re-edit of the footage you used in your first video. Both videos will essentially deliver the same message, but their viewing should be as different as possible due to the way you edit them.

You must have viewed the film Blue by Kirstof Kieslowski, by October 11, and then understand the visualization that was discussed on Monday, October 19, 2015. This visualization will also be available on http://remixdata.net

You need to share with class members your project idea by Wednesday, October 28, 2015, by posting it to the corresponding forum.

You must also consider what you learned from your own video analysis for part 1 of project 4, and apply the types of shots you explored in your video for that assignment in part 2.

Technical/Formal Requirements:

• Both videos must last the same time, which can range from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
• Both videos must implement the shots or montage approach you used in the first part of project 4.
• You can use cinemagraphs if you like but this is not necessary.
• You must consider the rhythm in your editing as discussed in class critique. For instance, when you let a shot/image linger or not, it must be for a reason.
• The sound should be mixed in order to complement but also question the video footage.
• You must have at least five scenes/shots to create a fairly complex montage.
• You can use any special effects you may want to add with any software of your choice. You will be graded this time on the quality of your video and lighting.
• You must mix your sound well and not go into the red.
• You must shoot your own footage, but you can use some pre-existing material if it is necessary for your idea. Go over this option with the instructor before moving ahead.
• You are encouraged to use the green screen for this assignment or for assignment 6 if it fits your idea.
• You are strongly encouraged to develop a piece that is critical of a subject of your choice such as politics, race, ethnicity, class difference, etc.
