Analysis of Second Transmedia Project (Capote / In Cold Blood) 30%

Due: Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Your analysis consists of two parts:

1) Develop an infographic that presents information you gathered through your data-mining of the films and books of In Cold Blood and Capote. Everyone in class should already have an emphasis or subject of research, such as times names are mentioned, difference in the way different moments appear in the films and the books, parts that are ommitted, etc. if you're not sure on where you're going with your project, please make sure to discuss it in order to receive more feedback well before the actual analysis is due.

For the infographic you need to consider:

  • The information is presented as clearly as possible.
  • The design is elegant and to the point.
  • The information included is as accurate as possible based on the tools and techniques you implemented.

2) Write a text that answers the following:

  • In 500 words: Based on your data-mining analysis consider at least two of the following questions: How is what you focused on at play in all four works and how is it different because of what each medium offers? How does film make the most of some parts of the stories, and how does writing also do the same? Why would you say some parts are omitted (were they adaptable?) and how did the directors deal with some challenging moments that were essential but difficult to adapt?
  • In 500 words: Discuss a part that both books share that is not included in the films at all, but which is crucial in order to get a better sense of the characters and overall situation. And discuss a part that appears in all four (books and films) and how it is the same and/or different.

You will need to edit well in order to develop answers that are precise and to the point, so make sure to take your time with the questions, and study the material available to you, both movies, and stills along with the books' PDFs.
