Project 1: Analysis of new media art/design project 20%

Due: Monday, September 28, 2015

Write a 1500 word critical reflection of a work of art or design selected from one of the online resources listed for class. Your choice must not be one previously discussed during class or on Angel. You must provide the URL to the work of your choice.

Your analysis must include:

  • Basic information about the artist(s)/designer(s) responsible for the work, where the work was produced and year of production
  • A basic explanation of the concept behind the work
  • How the project was realized: the type of technology used to develop the work and type of process (collaboration or interdisciplnay activity, etc)
  • How content and form come together in the project to present a message or idea

Share your opinion:

  • How successful or unsuccessful is the work in your view?
  • Justify your critical position by contrasting the work with at least two related examples of your choice
  • Support your views with at least three articles or essays you read on your own that focus on the issues you decided to discuss
  • Provide all sources with proper citation (MLA or Chicago Style citation required)

Upload a PDF version of your analysis to the proper dropbox on Angel; also share it on its assigned discussion forum. Class, as a group, will provide feedback to your analysis.
