Part 1 of Project 3 Released, due on December 2, 2015
Weekly Assignment due on November 18, 2016 | To be critiqued on Angel:
Develop a 15 to 30 second experimental video on any subject of your choice.
Technical parameters:
- at least one close-up, one mid-shot, and a wide-shot.
- Implement sound that questions the video footage. For example, if the footage is of a happy moment, then the sound should be sad, or violent, or ambiguous enough that the viewer will question the idea of happiness, or not think of happiness at all.
- Implement text that complicates the relationship of the image and sound. You should consider the typeface carefully; choose one that connotes something specific (violence, elegance, ephemerality, leisure, etc). You can use text as much as needed. The text must be treated as a visual element, not as something to read. It must become one with the image and the sound.
You should consider your lighting and sound mix, and should use them to also convey meaning. Upload all files to Box and provide proper access with a link via Angel.

Record sounds inside and around The Zoller Gallery and the various buildings of the visual arts, then evaluate how you can mix the sound to develop an abstract composition that may represent the activity of art of your choice, for instance:
How would you represent painting?

How would you represent ceramics?

How would you represent art education?

Record three separate sounds from your immediate environment. You can use your phone, or any other device to do this. Then edit the sounds in any software you already use to have some type of rhythm that defies a coherent pattern. Much of early electro-funk borrowed (sampled freely) or were heavily influenced by the music of Kraftwerk (Germany). Two songs that were heavily sampled are:
Kraftwerk - "Numbers"

Also note that while Newcleus were very much experimenting with electro-funk, they also would rap, as you will notice one of their most successful songs is included under the rap section below.
